First year college prep English is the beginning of a fantastic exploration of--as Hamlet says--words, words. words. We'll work on exploring all different kinds of reading; exploring different ways to write; explore a rich and powerful vocabulary--for he who holds the words, holds the power.
"The pen is mightier than the sword."
We'll explore the power of the spoken word, too, in discussions with classmates and students from other classes.
Words are all around us. They're in our heads. They lead us to do great things for humanity and the world. They influence us into despicable deeds. They lead us to believe. They lead us to doubt.
With some hard work, perserverance, and smiles, we'll learn to get control of our own words and use them effectively.
It will be an exciting course!
